Defending Ben as Batman

Poor Ben Affleck.
Just when everybody was starting to warm up to him after his Best Picture win for Argo, once again everyone despises him - and why you might ask? Affleck landed the most coveted role in Hollywood playing Batman in the Man of Steel sequel. Of course after the announcement was made fan boys went bonkers saying that it was the worst choice ever. I've gone on record along with Sullivan and Son star and co host of The Cowhead Show Galvin, that Bradley Cooper would have been our pick to play the Caped Crusader. Unlike all the haters, I don't have a problem with the casting of Affleck as Batman. It's time for the public to let go of the fact Ben Affleck was in some bad movies 10 years ago and had a high-profile relationship with a no talent pop star with a big ass. I'm here to defend Ben Affleck as Batman.

I've never understood why Ben Affleck was stuck in movie prison with no possibility of parole from the general public. Affleck has some bad movies under his belt including Gigli, Jersey Girl and Daredevil, but he's not the only star in Hollywood to bomb at the box office. I do remember a certain actor named Tom Hanks who appeared in two terrible movies back to back (Joe Versus the Volcano & The Bonfire of the Vanities) after his Oscar nominated role in Big. Hanks was able to bounce back in the public's eye and went on to win back to back Oscars. Clint Eastwood once starred in a movie with Orangoutang, yet we consider him one of our top Actor/Directors in Hollywood. Don't even get me started on De Niro. De Niro is put up on a pedestal, but for every great role he has, four bad movies usually follow. Marvin's Room, The Fan, Jacknife, Showtime, Little Fockers, Hide and Seek, Stardust and worst of all The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. No wonder De Niro earned a spot on 'The 4: Overrated Actors'. Why isn't Affleck given the same "Welcome Back" treatment as these other actors who have made just as many bad movies if not more?

It's time for all the Haters to let it go. Affleck has proved in roles dating back to HollywoodLand and more recently Argo and The Town, that he is not the terrible actor everyone makes him out to be. Unfortunately for Affleck he is an easy target. People have predetermined feelings towards Affleck because of past decisions and will not give the guy a second chance. In my opinion, those feeling are ignorant and baseless considering Affleck's work over the last five years.  No matter what Affleck has a long road ahead of him. Forget the stupid haters. He has to find a way to distinguish his Batman from Nolan's Batman. Not an easy task for any actor considering Nolan's trilogy are the best superhero movies ever. One thing I do know. All these haters who are crushing Warner Brothers decision to cast Ben Affleck as Batman in the Man of Steel sequel will be the first ones in line dressed as Batman when the film opens in 2015.
