Serious Sledding: "Cardboard Classic" Takes Over Poconos

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A giant sled competition drew a huge crowd to the Poconos this weekend.

"The Cardboard Classic" featured homemade sleds constructed from cardboard, glue, tape and string.

The elaborate sleds took months to design and build.

"We started back in November with the concept voting and then we started designing in December, building in beginning of January," said competitor Bob Mornile.

Some of the designs featured in the competition included a Winnebago, a castle, a pirate ship and trash truck, among others.

About 150 sleds got up to the top of the snow tube hill, but not all of them made it down in one piece.
