Temperatures Dropping, More Snow In the Forecast

According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, a very complex weather system continues to affect the area, this morning.

What was originally thought to be a major snowstorm in Pittsburgh ended up being some light snow, followed by freezing rain and then rain.

As a result, many schools are operating on a two-hour delay this morning.

Had this all fallen as snow, we would be dealing with over eight inches of snow this morning. As it is, Pittsburgh received 2.3 inches and a half to three-quarters of an inch of rain.

The main issue today is a flash freeze that is taking place.

Temperatures are falling rapidly and will be in the upper-teens by late morning.

Temperatures will continue to fall into the mid-teens in the afternoon.

Watch for icy spots on sidewalks, streets and bridge decks.

Tonight’s low is 9 degrees and we will have gusty northwest winds at 15-30 MPH with wind chills near zero.

According to the National Weather Service, West Middlesex in Mercer County received 8 inches of snow.

Meanwhile Mars only saw about three inches of snow as of 4 a.m.
