Rachel Bloom Wins Golden Globe

Rachel Bloom Wins Golden Globe

The CW has taken over the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical two years in a row. Last year the award went to Gina Rodriguez for her debut performance in Jane the Virgin. This year Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom, the show's co-creator and star, took home the gold from her first nomination.

The comedically talented 28-year-old broadway fan was up against fellow CW star Gina Rodriguez of Jane the Virgin (nominated for a second time), Lily Tomlin of Grace and Frankie, Jamie Lee Curtis of Scream Queens and Julia Louis-Dreyfus of Veep.

Like any first timer, she approached the stage with tears of joy. "Oh my god, oh my god," she said. " I'm just going to talk to you like people and talk to you like I'm not on TV. We almost didn't have a show!"

Bloom went on to tell the audience about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's struggle to network television. "We got six rejections in one day and we felt like crap, but we knew it was good." She then thanked The CW's Mark Pedowitz for taking a chance on their show and her co-creator, Aline Brosh McKenna, for seeing potential in her YouTube videos from two and a half years ago.

"I love you so much," she shouted to the crowd before she, in a classic Crazy Ex-Girlfriend fashion, was played off the stage.
