March for Babies 4/24/16

The sun was shining brightly at Heinz Field this past Sunday, as close to 5,000 people gathered together for the March of Dime's annual March for Babies.  This walk brings people together who share the same passion for raising funds to improve the health of babies.

After the walk,The Pittsburgh's CW Green Team was on the scene to emcee the post-walk announcements.  Ron and the Rumpshakers had people grooving as walkers enjoyed a delicious lunch, provided by Giant Eagle, Schwebels, and Snyders of Berlin.  Eat N Park also gave away hundreds of smiley cookies from their Cookie Cruiser.  The Art Institute allowed participants to take an Instagram selfie, reminding people to use the hashtag #MarchforBabies.  And the KidZone on Art Rooney Ave allowed the kids a chance to touch a truck, get their face painted, or choose a balloon animal.  This day was filled with fun for the whole family!

March for Babies helps fund research to find the causes of premature birth and ways to prevent it.  It also supports families with a premature baby in newborn intensive care, and even helps women who have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.  Donations are still pouring in, and this year's walk is projected to raise more than $550,000 to help give all babies a fighting chance!  Many thanks to the national, local and media sponsors who helped to make this another successful event!
