From live action role playing groups to Internet gaming gatherings, the region is bustling with nerd-worthy activities for all ages. Nerds consider this arcade/bar mash-up one of Pittsburgh’s hidden gems for the geekiest gaming. Whether you love arcade games and pinball, strategy and skill games or video games and Internet gaming, Games N’At has it. Try your hand at favorites like Star Trek-’91 Data East pinball or classics like Pac-man and Space Invaders in the arcade. Games N’At offers walk-in prices ranging from just $5 to packages for $60. You can also bring your own beer to the arcade and make use of some of the games’ drink holders.

If pub games are your geeky pleasure, head to Hambone’s Pub on Wednesday, March 6 to meet up with the members of the North Coast Gamers’ Pittsburgh chapter for Cheyenne Grimes’ Obscure Games. This week’s games center around a variety of dice games, including Catan, Quarriors, The Dice Game and Perudo; however, you are always encouraged to bring your own dice games as well. All levels of gamers are welcome to attend for an evening of games, socializing and cocktails. The group will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Hambone’s Pub in Lawrenceville.

Don’t forget your telescope or binoculars to join in on the guided tour of the sky’s constellations and bright stars. The Mingo Public Star Party will be held weather permitting so contact the Mingo Creek Park Observatory at (724) 348-6150 to confirm conditions.

Since Milton Bradley released its Star Trek Electronic Phasers, the first laser toy of its kind in 1979, laser tag has grown in popularity among the city’s nerd crowd. Grab 20 of your geekiest friends and head to Robinson Township’s Xtreme Laser Storm for an all-night outing at $22 per person or go with just a few of your pals. Laser Storm games last about 10 minutes each and start at just $6 for one game. Xtreme Laser Storm also houses a variety of arcade games and a snack shop so you can stay energized while tagging your opponents all night long.

Free drinks and snacks will be provided as will table-top board games.
