The most stressful jobs are hard to argue:
- Military Personnel
- Airline pilots
All, obviously, endure some serious stress. And we salute them.
At number five, event coordinators.
You know, the people who brave bridezillas or parents throwing their little darlings a big birthday party.
At number six, public relations executives.
That’s fair; especially when they’ve got reporters like Marty Griffin waiting in the lobby.
Senior corporate executives come in at number seven.
And that brings us to newspaper reporters. The eighth most stressful job.READ MORE: 2021 Fan N'ation Pizza Challenge
“I’ll tell you who knows stress, TV reporters that’s who,” says Ken Rice. “Newspaper reporters? Please.”
While our friend John Allison, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s associate editor, and his newspaper buddies are comfortable huddled indoors, the heroic men and women of TV news here in Pittsburgh and across the country have been out braving the most brutal weather conditions seen in years.
One reporter in Utah fainted and this was days before the polar vortex came barreling down from Canada.
“I appreciate that you’re out there with the people getting cold and shivering, but you know we’ve got things internal. Have you been in an office when sometimes the circulation is not working so very well? You know how much paper we have to deal? We get paper cuts, sometimes staplers they run out and you have to put the staplers back in,” said Allison. “There’s a lot going on that people don’t really appreciate.”
What’s more, newspaper reporters are somehow ranked ahead of police officers. Not even we would be that bold.
But TV news reporters, videographers, producers, directors didn’t make the list at all. Even the fearless forecasters didn’t make the list!
This is a joke. A travesty. An injustice so profound it would make a great story, but I bet you won’t be seeing it in the newspaper!MORE NEWS: This Saturday On JP Roofing FAN N'ATION (JUNE 19)
