In visible agony, he immediately reached for his foot. Unable to stand on his own, he was gingerly carried off the field.

The crowd fell into a stunned silence as he was being tended to.

However, Cheese Chester put everyone’s minds at ease with a simple thumbs-up gesture.

The Pirates announced he will be out 6-8 weeks with a broken foot on Twitter.

Potato Pete will take Cheese Chester’s place. It will be his first race since 2001.
